Brian was momentarily surprised at Oh’s order since originally his team leader was going to take the first watch with Markus. His surprise at being given a watch rotation shifted to a surprise of a different kind at Oh’s next words.

“No fucking.” As Oh’s order sunk in, Brian sought out Markus through their telepathy.

Is that even possible?

Yeah.

The visual of wolves mating could not be stopped from entering Brian’s mind. To his horror, it did not dampen his arousal for his bondmate in the slightest.

“Shit,” Brian muttered and began to strip.

The air was icy against his bare skin and he felt every snowflake that landed on him like a pin pick. Once naked, Brian concentrated on emptying his mind to allow his wolf to rise to the surface. It felt like it took forever to feel the pressure that Brian knew was his wolf. Distantly, he felt his body shivering in the cold but he ignored the tremors that were attempting to keep him warm. The pressure built until Brian felt it pop like a balloon and he would have exhaled a sigh of relief if his wolf were capable of such an expression.

Instead, he stood panting while he adjusted to the feeling of the cold, wet, snow on the pads of his paws. His body was no longer shivering in the cold now that he was covered in thick fur.

You did good, B, El told him even though Brian’s body ached slightly from the shift. It will get easier, less painful, the more you shift.

I hope so, Brian replied.

Your shift this time was faster than before, Markus commented and Brian thought he detected the feeling of pride from Markus.

Let’s go, Markus brushed against Brian’s flank.

“No fucking, M. I mean it,” Oh reiterated.

Markus glanced at Oh and gave their team leader a nod before speaking to Brian again.

You lead.

The feeling of being watched was even stronger to Brian in his wolf form. He raised his muzzle into the air but could not detect any scent that would justify the feeling. However, he did not dismiss what his gut was screaming at him as he led Markus from the camp to begin their patrol of the area.
